Wagner Stempel Pinot Noir
Learn More About This Wine
Maturation for 12 months in used oak barriques and traditional German oak barrels. Selectively hand-picked in late season from a single parcel at the Golden Horn site in Siefersheim, loamy soil on a subsoil of rhyolithic rock.
Clear, ruby-red colour with violet reflections. Delicate smell of red berries reminiscent of raspberry and cherry, spicy notes like loveage and vanilla with a hint of balsamic notes reminiscent of almonds. Dry, filigree acidity, powerful with pronounced minerality, soft but noticeable tannin structure, medium-bodied, very well balanced.
James Suckling 2024 Report: 93/100
“For an entry-level pinot noir this is a stunner, with a wonderful combination of red fruit and cassis aromas plus rooty complexity. Then the fine tannins on the medium-bodied palate build in an astonishing way for the category. What a silky finish. From two parcels in the Oberer Horn Site. From organically grown grapes. Matured in used barriques. Drink or hold.”
