Sancerre Monoparcelle 538
Learn More About This Wine
538 is one of two single-parcel selections, with its vines covering 1.11 acres; this parcel is situated only 500 metres from parcel 469, but it is radically different. It is much more exposed to the wind and well-ventilated, with its kimmeridgian soil consisting of sedimentary deposits of primary limestone, shallower in depth. The vines are also a little younger, the length and manner of maturation are the same, but this wine reveals a racier character, more saline and more chalky.
With the Monoparcelle wines, time does the work, a second winter before bottling helps stabilise and clarify the wines and to bring balance. Thus, the wines become more accomplished in the expression of their soils, the Monoparcelle 538 is incredibly precise, mineral and saline.
