Albert Bichot
Based in Beaune since 1831 Albert Bichot is family owned and operated, now being run by the sixth generation. Albéric Bichot joined the company in the 1990s and took over the management in 1996, with a respect for the family traditions, he also wanted to focus on the future. A firm believer that quality starts with the vineyard, he has taken the company, the vineyards, and the vinification capacities to new heights.
Focused on the future and the planet, all Albert Bichot’s wines are grown with a respect for terroir and nature, practising sustainable viticulture. Their vineyards are maintained according to organic agriculture and after first obtaining “organic agriculture” certification in 2012 (ECOCERT) for the Domaines Clos Frantin, Château-Gris, Pavillon and Adélie, their wines have been certified “organic wine” from the 2018 vintage. Domaine Long Depaquit will soon also be certified organic and currently has HVE certification.
Great care is taken in the winey and minimal intervention ensures that their wines are imbued with the terroir and characteristics of the villages they hail from. Each winery and cellar have their own dedicated team that vinifies and ages the wines.
In the most recent redesign of packaging sustainability was a priority and this can be seen in the lighter bottle weights as well as the use of recycled paper in labels and boxes.
In addition to the wines that they make at each of their own exceptional estates Domaine Long Depaquit, Domaine du Pavillon, Domaine du Clos Frantin, Chateau Gris and Domaine Rochegres they also vinify a great number of other appellation wines from purchased grapes.
Albert Bichot has been elected twice for the Best International Red and White Winemaker by the International Wine Challenge. In 2019, they were rewarded with the prestigious Len Evan Trophy which recognises excellence and consistency at the International Wine.
