Followed by the Port season.

In December, the sparkling wine season tends to be accompanied by the Port. Port is a typical drink for December in combination with some cheese, and it is a classic for a reason. Here you can find a quick overview of the different ports from Niepoort.

White Port:

Made from white grapes, fresh and fruity (citrus/melon) or more nutty and rich.

Tawny Port

Prolonged ageing in small wooden casks results in a characteristic Tawny colour. Typical aromas include lemon peel, caramel, honey, dried apricot and nuts.

Ruby Port

The most popular and simplest category. Rich in colour, fresh, young and fruity. Expressive Port with great character, vibrancy and drinkability.

Crusted Port

A premium quality Ruby port which has been aged in a bottle for at least three years before release. Here, it throws a deposit in the bottle (the crust), hence its name.
