Mesta Rosé
Learn More About This Wine
The Mesta was a powerful association of shepherds in Medieval Castile, controlling the routes for herding sheep across the country. The vineyards are nestled deep in the land of the Mesta, and are still passed over by flocks of their annual migration, a reminder of ancient rights and a cultural cue for continuing co-existence with nature. Through organic viticulture and respectful winemaking, they produce wines of great purity, reflecting the unique personality of the land and grape varieties.
Produced from their own, organically farmed vineyards in Uclés (Castile, Spain), managed as an integrated ecosystem and studded with centenary oak trees. The region’s continental climate with sunny days and cool nights allows it to achieve intense fruit and excellent varietal definition, while retaining remarkable freshness.
Grapes were picked early morning and quickly transferred to the winery where they were chilled before spending 6-8 hours on the skins. The runoff fermented in stainless steel vats at around 16 degrees Celsius. MLF was prevented by chilling. Cold stabilized and lightly filtered prior to bottling.
An approachable but serious pink wine, displaying great purity and typicity for Tempranillo, in a light, elegant style. Pale strawberry colour, with intense and fresh berry aromas over subtle floral notes. Excellent concentration and a slightly off-dry finish, beautifully balanced by crisp acidity and a refreshing, savoury note. A perfect year-round drink and a highly versatile food wine with pasta, rice dishes, and salads as well as curries and stir-fried, spicier dishes.
