Le Puy has been in the Amoreau family since 1610. It overlooks the Dordogne river and is on the same geological plateau as St Emilion and Pomerol. The 50 hectares of vineyards are spread over 3 plots with soils of clay, limestone and silica. The reds are based on a majority of Merlot and some Cabernet Franc and Carmenere, the whites from old vine Semillon and the rose by saignee method from Merlot. Organic and biodyamic the wines are natually fermented with no or minimal additions of sulphur and long aging in old barrels. This results in wines with great finesse, energy and outstanding aging potential.
