A contemporary and versatile blend of Alentejo varieties from old vines of Aragonez, Trincadeira, Castelao, and Alicante Bouschet. Crafted using the winery’s signature production methods that have been used for over 100 years.

Whole bunches of grapes are handpicked, foot trodden twice daily and fermented in open stone lagares for roughly 4 – 7 days. This traditional approach to a modern style wine is what makes Rafael so distinctive. Aged in Portuguese 5000L Toneis and up to 25% of the final blend in small new and used French oak barrels for at least 12 months and up to 15 months, with a further 6 to 9 months in bottle before release.

Youthful and fresh, this wine has notes of red berries, ripe dark fruit with dark chocolate and subtle peppermint undertones. Rich and complex, it is a great wine to pair with a wide variety of dishes, meat, hearty casseroles, and rich fish stews.
