Although Mouchão has a large quantity of old vineyards, they need to regularly regenerate them, by planting new parcels. While these new parcels don’t get the “Mouchão maturity” they use the grapes to produce Corrente. Meaning, the same production process (handpicked, foot trodden and manual presses) but they do not age in the large wooden vats. Corrente is bottled straight away. This gives a more ready to drink wine, focused on the fruit and freshness.
The Portuguese word CORRENTE in this context means your everyday wine. Simple, straightforward and with no wood ageing.
