This Contrada is adjacent to the district of San Lorenzo. The entire Contrada was in effect buried by the lava flow of 1981. Once cooled the lava was then covered with tons of earth and replanted in the hope of re-capturing the past greatness of the wines. In 2017 Tenuta delle Terre Nere discovered a well hidden “island” completely surrounded by the flow which is some way was spared. The first vintage after acquiring the land was 2019 bottled in 2021. In effect this vineyard is a monopole.
