Ahr is probably the most northern wine-growing region for red wines, but due to its unique microclimate and expressive soils it has a proven track record in great Pinot Noir. The Handwerk Spatburgunder is the Gutswein from the Bertram-Baltes winery, it forms the basis of their range. The grapes come exclusively from younger vines from their own vineyards along the Ahr valley. The name “Handwerk” stands for the intensive manual labour on the steep slopes and therefore represents one of the main reasons for the high quality of these wines.
