Ahr is probably the most northern wine-growing region for red wines, but due to its unique microclimate and expressive soils it has a proven track record in great Pinot Noir. The Pfarrwingert plot is just behind the winery and is south-facing, with slate and greywacke soils. Hand-picking, spontaneous fermentation in barrels made from local oak and the absence of filtration deliver a very elegant, delicately spicy Pinot Noir.
