Clos de l'Ours

The family Brotons began their adventure in winemaking in 2012, selling everything to become winegrowers. They acquired an old plot of 15 hectares of vines in the most northerly part of the Côtes du Provence appellation, Surrounded by a natural clos of woods it benefits from an exceptional microclimate. In summer in particular a diurnal range benefits the vines in helping to regulate the maturity of the grapes.

The estate grows eight grape varieties on clay-limestone soils, three whites: Rolle (Vermentino), Clairette and Ugni-Blanc and five reds: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan and Cinsault. The vines have an average age of 50 years old, with the oldest being more than a 100 years old.

The philosophy is simply to accompany nature, by growing the vines organically, promoting biodiversity in the vines through the farming practices particularly ploughing with horses. Many species of birds, bats, insects and mammals live in the vineyard throughout the year and bear witness to a living ecosystem and soil. The cellar is made up of oak tons and barrels, concrete eggs, enamelled steel and stainless steel vats.
