Phaunus Amphora Loureiro
Learn More About This Wine
Made from a 100% Loureiro from various sites all with a southern exposure. The grapes are destemmed and pressed artisanally with a basket press. This is followed by spontaneous fermentation with the skins in clay amphorae which are sealed with beeswax to regulate oxidation, after six months on the mash and yeast racking follows.
The wine is slightly cloudy with golden reflections, the nose is alive with citrus aromas, candied orange peel, tangerine and grapefruit. Followed by red fruit tea, chamomile and yellow and white flowers. Touch of spice with cinnamon, white pepper and marjoram, and bergamot. On the palate it shows fruitiness and coolness at the same time, it is compact and lives from a fine tannin that holds it together.
Very gastronomic wine, some suggestions include cheeses such as camembert or feta, Moroccan dishes including couscous or harissa or lightly smoked fish.
