Pittnauer Zweigelt
Learn More About This Wine
The Zweigelt is an attempt at reinterpreting the grape variety and reveal its juiciness and aromatic, complex details. The grapes come from different vineyards on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl, grown in sandy and loamy soils with some lime. These vineyards benefit from the warmth of the Pannonian climate and the constant thermals on its banks. The grapes are hand picked, spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wines were aged on the lees in large used wooden barrels for several months.
Stylistic, juicy, profound, and complex. The nose gives dark fruit, with earthy and spicy notes. Black cherries go hand in hand with ripe sour cherries. A Zweigelt with power and energy, the richness is softened by a fine acidity and some tannins.
