Ried (single vineyard, cru) Haid is based on tertiary gravel derived from the Alps in the past millions of years. Sufficient drainage, high altitude and good wind exposure is ideal for cultivating St Laurent here. The wine is matured in regional oak casks (Manhartsberg) of 600 litres and undergoes only a slight filtration and may contain sediments.

This wine opens with an intense and elegant, slightly smoky, beautifully spicy and herbal bouquet of dark, perfectly ripe fruits, notably black berries, intertwined with refreshing floral and citrus fruit notes. Silky textured and very elegant on the palate, this medium to full-bodied wine reveals remarkable freshness, finesse and lush aromas on the finish. Very stimulating and versatile wine for lunch and dinner, perfect with game.

Due to the gravel rich soil of the vineyard site this wine shows elegance and a mineral core, the barrel ageing adds a silky texture and puts an emphasis on the fine berry aroma and a herbal touch.
