Vines are grown on Jurassic limestone with a layer of loess and the vineyards were planted between 1985 and 2005 with a mix of clonal material Freiburg 5286 and 1801 and Burgundy clone 105. Fermentation occurs spontaneously lasting for approximately six weeks, after which the wine is aged on the lees for 20 to 22 months. No fining or filtration. It is aged in barrique, none of which are new. Very fine cherry aromas and flavours, fresh palate with ripe tannins. Drinks well on release with an ageing potential of at least ten years.
