Chateau Gris is a castle, built in the 18th century in Nuits-St-Georges, in the middle of a 3.5 hectare walled vineyard. Its terraced vineyard, which is rather rare in Burgundy, culminates at an altitude of 280 metres. The plots close to the castle are planted with Pinot Noir grapes, while Chardonnay is grown higher up. The vines have an average age of over 40 years. The vineyard’s altitude, steep slope that faces due east and characteristic clay limestone soil provide optimal conditions for yielding fine, elegant wines.
