The Rhini vineyard has soils of Jurassic limestone with iron-rich clay layer. VInes were planted between 1989 to 2000. The plantings are Selection Massale and german clones 5286 and Wädenswil 245. Fermentation occurs spontaneously for about six weeks before aging on lees for 20 to 22 months. Some new barriques are used, approximately 10% and 90% used barriques. No fining or filtration.Â
Rich red fruit profile of red currant, raspberry and cherry. Tannins are best described as muscular and straight and the wine benefits from aging, with a potential of at least 15 years or decanting before serving if younger.
