Learn More About This Wine

The baseline of the wine is on the lighter side of life. It is very much a red wine, but the contribution of the white grapes to the mid palate is what makes this wine special. A chilled red that is going to entertain throughout many occasions.

The red grapes were picked at optimal ripeness and cooled overnight to 4 degrees celsius. The next morning the grapes were part destemmed and part taken as whole bunches to open top fermenters. Fermented spontaneously and left on the skins for 3 weeks. Pressed into older French oak barrels, 10 months – blended and bottled. The white were pressed as whole bunches with no additives. The juice underwent spontaneous fermentation in French oak, amphora and concrete tanks, 10 months on the lees, blended with the reds and bottled.

The 2022 vintage is a blend of no less than 11 cultivars from 8 different wine regions; Piekenierskloof (Palomino and Grenache Noir), Darling (Cinsault), Walkers Bay (Grenache Noir), Breedekloof (Cinsault), Stellenbosch (Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, Verdelho, and Chardonnay), Swartland (Verdelho, Chenin Blanc, and Fernao Pires), Elgin (Weisser Riesling, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc).
