Las Parcelas
Learn More About This Wine
Tasting Note:
Shows pure, intense aromas of dark cherries with hints of violet and clove. Medium-bodied with impressive complexity and concentration. The fruit shines through, reflecting the character of cooler-climate Rioja Alavesa, balanced by fresh acidity, chalky tannins, and a long, mineral finish.
A serious, lightly oaked wine that will benefit from 2–3 years of cellaring and age gracefully for up to five more. Ideal with grilled meats, hard cheeses, and hearty pasta or rice dishes.
Vineyards and Winemaking:
Made from high quality, low-yielding grapes from small, old hillside vineyard parcels on limestone soils. Parcelas is a blend of village wines effectively, where the parcels are not included in the village specific wines such as V1BN4 or L4GD4 they are included in this wine. About a quarter of the wine is aged for about 6 months in new French oak for added complexity and texture, but no overt oak character.
