Coltassala, is the name of Volpaia’s oldest vineyard, populated with superior clones of Sangiovese wines. Despite its original classification as a Vino da Tavola and recognition internationally as a Super Tuscan it now forms part of the the new classification of DOCG Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. Aged for 24 months in oak barriques, then aged for 6 months in bottle upon release. Intense ruby red with an elegant and intense aroma of vanilla, cocoa and fruit. A wine with great structure intended for long ageing. (95% Sangiovese, 5% Mammolo).
