Blaufrankisch Leithaberg DAC
Learn More About This Wine
Tasting Note:
The Blaufränkisch opens with ripe blackberry, plum, and a touch of black pepper, layered with fine, integrated tannins and a distinctive salty minerality. A subtle hint of lemon adds freshness and lift. Complex yet balanced, this wine is a superb food companion.
Vineyard & Terroir:
This red Leithaberg Blaufränkisch comes from Ried Pratsche, a vineyard that rises into the hills directly behind Oggau. From here, you can gaze over the reed belt to Lake Neusiedl—and you can feel the lake’s influence too. Warm breezes carry its moisture onto the vines, gently settling on the leaves and grapes. The region’s mild climate is perfectly offset by the cooling presence of limestone soils, creating ideal conditions for a wine that’s pure, focused, and precise.
Winemaking Philosophy:
In the cellar, tradition reigns. Nothing is done that wouldn’t have been done 70 years ago—reflecting a deep respect for authenticity and minimal intervention.
