Learn More About This Wine
The Jura vineyards of approx.1900 hectares stretch along a north-south axis, from Salins-les-Bains to Saint-Amour. This strip of land is bounded to the east by the first limestone plateau of the Jura Mountains and to the west by the plain of Bresse. They are opposite, along the same axis, as the Burgundy vineyards with Arbois & Buvilly on the same parallel as Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet! The vineyard is located on rolling hills of limestone with an average altitude between 200 to 400 metres and a semi-continental climate.
The Arbois Chardonnay is made from a blend of several single vineyards between the villages of Arbois and Villette (NW of Arbois). Exclusively hand harvested, parcels are vinified separately, alcoholic fermentation and malolactic conversion (100% completed) are spontaneous. Wines are totally barrel fermented and aged into the same barrels (no racking). These barrels of French oak are neutral, since they are 10 to 15 years old, 30% of more recent barrels, no new oak. On the lees fermentation, no racking or stirring, regular topping-up of the barrels for 14 months.
