Chateau de Cerons
Cérons lies just north of Barsac and was awarded its own appellation in 1936, 10 days before Sauternes was similarly recognised. The production of its flagship sweet wine declined in favour of dry white and red Graves. The current generation at Chateau de Cerons, Xavier and Caroline Perromat devote 5ha of their total of 26ha to this almost forgotten appellation. According to Stephen Spurrier (Decanter April 2015) they are deserving of the highest praise and the quality is superb. Xavier describes the essential character of Cérons terroir as “freshness of fruit and fine minerality”.
