Chateau Gris

Château Gris was built in the 19th century, it sits on a slope to the south-west of Nuits-Saint-Georges, at the heart of an 8.5 clos (walled vineyard). Locals named the castle because of its grey slate roof which is unusual in Burgundy.

The property has terraced vineyards which is also unusual with altitudes of between 260 and 330 metres. The plots closest to the house are Pinot Noir, while the Chardonnay is grown higher up, all vines have an average age of over 40 years. The vineyard’s altitude, steep slope that is faced east, and the characteristics of the clay-limestone soil provide optimal conditions for yielding fine, elegant wines.
