Cazas Novas
The Cazas Novas Winery is in Santa Marinha do Zêzere, Baião. It is therefore based in the southeast of the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region, in a transition zone between Vinho Verde and Douro, with the river as an influence and backdrop. The hillside vineyards, on granite soils, are particularly suited to the Avesso grape variety which is one of the iconic varieties in the Vinho Verde region.
The wine from Avesso is characterised by being more ample, riper and mouth filling while maintaining that Vinho Verde character of minerality combined with very fresh acidity.
The Avesso vineyards of the Cazas Novas project are concentrated in four properties within a radius of 2 km, in the heart of Baiao, at an altitude between 300 and 400 metres, on predominantly granite soils, with different sun exposures.
