Deep Down Wines
Deep Down was founded in 2019 by Clive Dougall and Peter Lorimer, combining strong experience in winemaking, sales, and global wine markets. The company is Certified Organic and a B Corporation, focused on producing honest wines with minimal intervention.
Clive Dougall is the winemaker and a long-time advocate for organic practices. He made Marlborough’s first organic wine in 2007 and spent three years at Pegasus Bay before becoming head winemaker at Seresin Estate, where he worked for 12 years. He now chairs Organic Winegrowers NZ and advises the government on organic policy.
Peter Lorimer’s background includes roles as Head Sommelier at London’s Dorchester Hotel and Head of Sales at Lea & Sandeman. He later ran a New Zealand export consultancy for eight years before co-founding Deep Down.
All Deep Down wines are single vineyard, wild fermented, and made with little or no additives. The focus is on organic grapes, natural processes, and balanced wines that reflect their origin.
The name “Deep Down” reflects a belief in intuition and thoughtful decision-making. The company is committed to sustainability, transparency, and ethical business practices.
