Le Plan des Moines
Le Plan des Moines is formed by three friends who each have different experiences in the wine industry; Thierry Pommet, started out as a sommelier and has been exporting wine for the many years; Daniel Orsolini has over 20 years of experience in both buying and selling wine internationally; Claude Serra, an experienced viticulturist, winemaker and professor in Oenology at Montpellier University.
The philosophy behind Le Plan des Moines is to produce terrific, genuine and natural Rhone wine. In 2011 the domain started by finding their first vineyards of the Cotes du Rhone and Cotes du Rhone Villages. The winery name comes from their first vineyard which was located between Remoulins and Avignon. The grapes are harvested and vinified in the most natural way possible, and importantly are vinified and bottled at the property to avoid transporting grapes in bulk. Grapes are traditionally handpicked and carefully sorted. Priority is given to organic treatments on the vineyards. The average yield does not exceed 40 hl/hectares. Richness of the fruit, complexity and a good balance with some freshness on the finish are the characteristics of the wines of Le Plan des Moines.
