Domaine Haute Fevrie
Domaine Haute-Févrie was established in 1915, and is now run by the fourth generation of the Branger family. It is located in the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation between Monnieres and Saint Fiacre, 18 km south-east of Nantes.
The estate focuses exclusively on Melon de Bourgogne, a relatively unsung grape, today the estate has 26 ha entirely classified as Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. In winemaking Melon de Bourgogne loves lees and can make refreshing youthful wines but also site-specific crus with more complexity from longer ageing, plus it creates brilliant sparkling wines.
The vineyards benefit from different exposures, silico-clayey, stony and shallow soils with a subsoil made up of metamorphic rocks (gneiss, orthogneiss and amphibolites). The estate has moved entirely to organic methods in order to respect the vine and its environment.
There has been a revolution in the quality of Muscadet and this Domaine is making wines that make Muscadet a must have on any list.
