Dautel
Dautel is in Germany’s Wurttemberg region with vineyards on terraced steep slopes surrounding the village of Bonnigheim, an hour east of Heidelberg.
Soils are gypsum, calcareous marl, sandstone and fossil bearing limestone spread across several different sites. The vineyards are farmed organically, with a focus on biodiversity.
Christian Dautel pursues finesse and balance in the wines. In the cellar they prefer larger oak barrels for their reds. Christian also interned at Domaine Comtes Lafon, among others, gaining insights into making exceptional Chardonnay.
