Chateau de Come
Located on some of the finest clay-limestone plots in the St Estephe appellation, Château de Côme produces silky wines of great subtlety with excellent balance, smooth tannins, offering plenty of fruit and a long finish.
Founded in 1840 by the Saint-Estèphe family, the vineyard is 7 hectares of homogenous clay, sand, and limestone that is perfectly suited for Merlot.
When Baron Maurice Velge bought Château Clauzet and Château de Côme in 1997, he saw it more as the fulfillment of an age-old desire than as a business investment. Partnering with winemaker José Bueno, who had previously spent 23 years working with Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the pair embarked on a journey to transform Château de Côme into an organic winery.
Today, they grow 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and are certified organic.
