Chateau de Come

Château de Come, acquired in 1997 by Baron Maurice Velge, is now managed by his family and is the first certified organic Château in Saint-Estephe. This boutique wine is made thanks to a close collaboration between the Velge family, Jose Bueno, trained for 23 years by Philippe de Rothschild, and Eric Boissenot, a leading oenologist of the Medoc and his close-knit and dynamic team.

Château de Côme was mentioned in the Guide Féret, the bible of Bordeaux, in 1886 as a “Cru Bourgeois Supérieur. The vineyards were established around 1840. When Baron Velge bought it in 1997, there were just two hectares left, the label had disappeared, the vineyard having been leased by another Château. Very quickly, the vineyard’s surface area grew to seven hectares, with high-quality, homogeneous terroirs. A new label was published, and the wine was relaunched. The first vintages already present wines of great finesse.
