June 2023 saw a successful visit from Michael Moosbrugger of Schloss Gobelsburg to Dublin which included a masterclass, a day in the trade and an Austrian dinner in Greenman Wines. It was clear that there is an insatiable thirst for Austrian wine, in both on and off trade. So we made the, not so difficult, decision to import four new wines which were brought over especially for the visit but which have not been available in Ireland until now.
Cistercien Rosé 2022
Zweigelt, St Laurent & Pinot Noir
Stylistically closer to white wine production and only 11.5% alc. Bright, and delicate. Notes of turkish delight with a zesty backbone.
Riesling Heiligentsein 2017
100% Riesling
Luscious hints of passion fruit and ripe peach, lemon grass and honeysuckle. Bracing acidity and zesty lime balances out the richness.
Pinot Noir Reserve 2020
100% Pinot Noir
Juicy, bright, high acids & a long, elegant finish. Perfumed ruby-hued bouquet with red fruit, floral notes and very subtle cocoa undertones. Delicate spices and earthiness add depth. Medium bodied with silky-smooth tannins.
St Laurent Selektion 2019
100% St. Laurent
A medley of dark fruits, black cherry, plum, violet and a gentle touch of oak. Velvety and opulent on the palate. Ripe, well-integrated tannins with a touch of spice. A perfect match for cured meats and game.
