Lustros Brut Nature
Learn More About This Wine
The Finca Font de Jui estate, from which Lustros is made, consists of about 22.5 hectares, among them, 15 are Xarel.lo and 7.5 Macabeo. They spread from the Anoia River (La plana, 100 metres above sea level) to the Mas Escorpi hill (300 metres above sea level), which overlooks the town of Sant Sadurni, and its southern slopes. Its soil is clay-limestone; sandy layers along the river and very rocky in the higher and drier areas. Gramona’s organic and biodynamic approach on the Finca, as with all of their land enriches life in the soil, and helps the plants to better adapt to climate change.
The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted and whole bunch pressed. Lustros is aged for more than 80 months in a 100% artisanal process. The bottles are sealed with a cork stopper, which enables the longest ageing periods. Gramona uses ‘pupitre’ racks, and riddling. Non dosage.
Straw hue with golden highlights. Intense and fresh, with baked apple, sweet pear, ripe citrus, and grapefruit peel. Subtle floral and herbal hints, with ageing notes of hazelnut, toast, brioche, and toffee. Fine, creamy bubbles carry candied fruit balanced by balsamic nuances. Powerful, well-structured, and expressive, finishing lively and long.
This is very much a sparkling wine for enjoying with good food. With its balance of structure, creaminess and freshness, it works well with many food types; appetisers, foie gras, terrines and cold meats, fish, poultry and even rice dishes. Serve it between 8 and 10 degrees in a large balloon wine glass to enable it aerate and express its aromas to the full.
