Leirana Albarino
Learn More About This Wine
Refined and mineral Albarino, whose closeness to the sea is clearly perceptible. Hand harvested grapes from 40-90 year old vines located on the Atlantic coast in the villages of Meano, Simes, Lores, Dena, Xili, Sanxenxo, Padrenda, Castrelo and Valinas. Each plot is vinified separately and the grapes are pressed as whole bunches. 80% of the wine ferments spontaneously in small steel tanks and 20% in oak barrels. Before blending, the wine matures in the same vessels on the lees for 7 months, no malolactic fermentation.
Extremely pure and elegant with some mid palate richness due to lees maturation and the wine’s minerality and acidity are noticeable.
“Wonderful, subtle wine with plump ripe peach fruits, a touch of orange peel and lemon zest, and a wonderful saline edge. Dublin Bay prawns with home-made mayonnaise.” – John Wilson, The Irish Times
