Ziereisen is based in Baden, the warmest part of Germany, which offers long hours of sunshine. The region touches both the Swiss and French borders and, though this is a truly German Pinot Noir, it is the most Burgundian of all due to its limestone soils and location. Ziereisen is one of the many estates that is helping to raise the profile of German Spatburgunder/Pinot Noir. Fresh whites are also made, including Heugumber from Chasselas.
