Meet Fritz!

Like sparkling wine but want something more interesting than Prosecco yet similarly priced?

Fritz Muller is made by Jurgen Hofmann, (described as a rising star in the “Gault Millau” Wine Guide) and inspired by the demands of Guido Walter, a wine merchant in Munich. Fed up with the sameness of Prosecco they looked to the possibilities offered by german varieties. The Germans know their sparkling wine being the largest consumers of sparkling wine in the world.

And don’t just take our word for it. In Tom Stevenson’s recently updated guide to Champagne and Sparkling Wines of the World, Fritz Muller was described as having what ” German sparkling wine has been missing: sex appeal and character.“

Fritz Muller is made from 100% Muller-Thurgau – a fresh and semi sparkling wine with tantalising exotic fruit and bright acidity. Its good on its own as an aperitif but there are a whole range of cocktail possibilities such as the Fritz Spritz, recipe as follows

2 oz. (6 cl) Fritz Müller Perlwein
1 ¼ – 1 ½ oz. (4 cl) of Aperol or Campari
1 splash soda
ice
garnish with an orange quarter

Fritz landed in Ireland today. Let us know if you would like to try some.
